Alyssa Hughlett

Since the age of "when she could walk," Alyssa has never ceased running up walls, climbing on things and people, throwing herself through space, being thrown by others, flying, tumbling, and pretending that she could shape-shift into any animal or creature she desired. She was a competitive gymnast at North Star Gymnastics until the age of 15 and then a competitive cheerleader (flyer) with Prospirit All-Star Club in McKinney, TX. It was in high school where she found a love and gift for storytelling, oratory, acting, and dramatic reading and interpretation. It was her love for both movement and highly physically-engaged character acting that led her to continue her studies at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, receiving her BFA in Acting with a minor in dance. After college, Alyssa moved to Lenox, MA to work as an actor, education artist, and workshop manager at Shakespeare & Company for three seasons. Credits include: The Canterville Ghost (Virginia) directed by Irina Brook (Irina's Dream Theatre), Romeo & Juliet (Juliet), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Hermia, Starveling, Faerie). She moved to Philadelphia where she worked as a yoga instructor, education artist, private trainer, and freelance actor. She performed in the Philly Fringe and also worked for The Wharton Salon (Lenox MA) during this time. In 2012, Alyssa was accepted into the MFA program at Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, CA. From August until October of 2014, she worked as an assistant to Irina Brook at the National Theatre of Nice in France, on her adaptation and staging of Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt. Alyssa played Pippi in the 2014 Dell'Arte Holiday Tour of Pippi Longstocking, and also devised and performed in Between the Lines (2013), Taken Away (2014), and now, Terra Incognita (2015). (
