Enmity of the People (Guest Artists at University of Dayton)

It is discovered that the source of your town’s water is poisoned. Your leaders assure you there is nothing wrong. How do you know you are safe? Who can you trust? Who holds the power of moral authority and how is it measured? Featuring UpLift Physical Theatre and the Zoot Theatre Company, this brand new imagining of Henrik Ibsen’s 1882 play, An Enemy of the People, explores how these themes can still persist more than a century later.

This production is an original adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People co-produced by the Theatre, Dance and Performance Technology Program, the Hanley Sustainability Institute, UpLift Physical Theatre, and the Zoot Theatre Company.

Tickets available here: https://udayton.edu/calendar/2017/02/enmity-of-people-2-24-25.php

Transcending Technique: A Workshop in Devising Acrobatic Stories

So you have acrobatic skills? Now what? In this workshop we will lead participants through a series of explorations in creating acrobatic work that means something. We’ll start by investigating the creative body: How do you train your body to physically express the stories you want to tell? How do you develop the physical sensitivity required to create meaningful work with a partner? We’ll then go on to explore the act of creating highly-physical stories in ensemble. We will be drawing on the diverse backgrounds we share in UpLift: theatre, writing, partner acrobatics, grappling, and gestural movement.
